Pescina is located at 750 meters from the sea level and is located at the entrance of the Valley of the bullock, between the Abruzzo National Park and the Sirente-Sailing Park.
It seems that the name derives from the fact that once the inhabitants used swimming pools filled with the waters of the river bullock to fish trout and hunt ducks.

Pescina is the main municipality of Valle del Giovenco, which also includes the hamlet of Venere, the communes of Ortona dei Marsi, Bisegna and San Benedetto dei Marsi, also suggestive places for history and scenery, easily reachable by Pescina.

In 2011 the association Federtrek also inaugurated the path section of the Valley that will be dedicated to Ignazio silone, between Pescina and Ortona dei Marsi.
