\nIt seems that the name derives from the fact that once the inhabitants used swimming pools filled with the waters of the river bullock to fish trout and hunt ducks.<\/p>\n

Pescina is the main municipality of Valle del Giovenco, which also includes the hamlet of Venere, the communes of Ortona dei Marsi, Bisegna and San Benedetto dei Marsi, also suggestive places for history and scenery, easily reachable by Pescina.<\/p>\n

In 2011 the association Federtrek also inaugurated the path section of the Valley that will be dedicated to Ignazio silone, between Pescina and Ortona dei Marsi.

Pescina sorge a 750 metri dal livello del mare ed \u00e8 sita all'imbocco della Valle del Giovenco, tra il Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo e il Parco Sirente-Velino.
Pare che il nome derivi dal fatto che un tempo gli abitanti utilizzassero delle piscine riempite con le acque del fiume Giovenco per pescare le trote e cacciare le anatre.<\/p>\r\n

Pescina \u00e8 il comune principale della Valle del Giovenco di cui fanno parte anche la frazione di Venere, i comuni di Ortona dei Marsi, Bisegna e San Benedetto dei Marsi, anch'essi luoghi suggestivi per storia e scenario, facilmente raggiungibili da Pescina che vanta una posizione privilegiata all'interno della Valle.<\/p>\r\n

Nel 2011 l'associazione Federtrek ha inoltre inaugurato il tratto di sentiero della Valle che verr\u00e0 dedicato ad Ignazio Silone, tra Pescina e Ortona dei Marsi. Il fiume Giovenco bagna Pescina attraversandola da Nord a Sud, fino a gettarsi nei collettori della Piana del Fucino e poi sfociando nel bacino del Liri.
